So You Need to Book a School Assembly!
When it comes to elementary assembly programs there are a lot of performers claiming to be “The Best” or “The #1 School Assembly. The simple truth is that there are no national criteria for elementary school speakers. Since literally ”anyone” can claim to be a a great assembly, you will need to do a little research on your presenter in order to determine if they are even qualified to speak with your students. By asking some basic questions your school will benefit from a show that is not only entertaining but highly educational.
Here are a few questions to ask potential presenters:
- What is your educational background?
- Why do you consider yourself qualified to speak over this particular topic?
- Do you have any experience as a former teacher, counselor, or educator?
- How did you develop the educational curriculum for your programs?
- Can you put me into direct contact with other schools that have hosted your programs?
- Do you offer any sort of guarantee on your services?
One of the the most important things you can research is testimonials. By talking to schools that have already booked the performer you will receive an honest opinion about the show. Nobody wants to recommend someone that was received poorly by the teachers and students. Nobody wants to be blamed for giving high marks to show that that doesn’t deserve them.
A great way to ensure that you are contracting a great performer is to interview schools that have the presenter in the past. If many schools have a great things to say about a school assembly…….chances are your school will have a similar experience.
Check out a performer’s web-site. If you are intererested in a math school assembly, then make sure there is a dedicated show for that subject. If there is not a video on-line, move on. Performers without a video may be hiding something. A picture says a thousand words, therefore, a video speaks volumes!
By taking the time to research and ask some simple questions, you can ensure that your parent organizations hard earned money is being well spent! There is nothing worse than hiring a school show performer that doesn’t deliver.
